Training guide
A plain guide to the Associate Google Workspace Administrator exam: what it tests, what it costs, how long it lasts and how to prepare.
EU Job Hub Editorial Team · Updated 1 October 2026 · Based on Google Cloud certification information
The Associate Google Workspace Administrator exam is a Google Cloud certification for people who run Workspace every day. It is not a free course, and the old title of this page was wrong about that.
This guide explains what the exam covers and who it suits. It also shows how to prepare and how to use the credential in a job search in Europe. Check the official page for the latest price and rules.
| Provider | Google Cloud |
| Level | Associate |
| Format | Online or test-centre exam, 50 to 60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions |

| Validity | Three years, then recertify |
| Cost | Paid exam. Training providers list about USD 125, so check the current fee. |
Google describes the role as the daily management of a Workspace environment. The aim is to help teams collaborate and communicate safely.
Core duties include managing user accounts and configuring core services such as Gmail and Drive. They also include keeping Workspace data secure and compliant.
The official exam guide lists every topic in detail. Read it first and tick off what you already know.
Related roles named by Google include IT administrator, systems administrator, help desk staff, technical support engineer and collaboration engineer.
It suits someone who already manages users and settings in a small company or school. It also suits a junior sysadmin who wants proof of skill.
It is less useful if you never touch admin settings. A general IT course may fit you better.
Earlier, Google offered a Professional Google Workspace Administrator exam. Google lists it as retired and says it was removed on 31 December 2024.
If you see an old guide that mentions it, the advice may be out of date. Always match your study material to the Associate exam name.
Start with the official exam guide and the Google learning path for Workspace administrators. Then practise in a test environment, not a live company account.
Work through each area by doing the task. Create a user, move them to a new organisational unit and change a sharing rule. Then undo the change and note what happened.
Read the sample questions on the official page. They show how scenario questions are written.
Plan four to six weeks if you already use Workspace. Spend the first week on users and groups. Spend the second on Gmail, Drive and calendar settings.
Use week three for security and compliance. Use week four for troubleshooting and a full review.
Keep a one-page cheat sheet of settings and where to find them. Writing it yourself fixes it in memory.
Training providers quote about USD 125 for the exam, plus tax. One practice-test site quotes a higher figure, so the price may differ by region. Confirm it on Google Cloud before you book.
You can take the exam online with a proctor or at a test centre. Training providers describe about two hours for the sitting. Check the official page for the exact time.
The credential is valid for three years. You can start recertifying 60 days before it expires.
Do not rely on memorised answers. Scenario questions change the details.
Do not skip security settings. They carry real weight in daily admin work.
Do not call the exam free. Only the learning material may be free, and the exam has a fee.
Many European companies run Workspace, from schools to small agencies. Titles to look for include IT administrator, systems administrator and IT support specialist.
Add the credential to your Europass CV, with the year you passed. Mention one real task, such as a migration or a security change.
The certification does not give a right to work. Check national rules if you need a visa.
No. The exam has a fee. Training providers list about USD 125.
Google recommends about six months of Super Admin experience in a real or test setup.
Three years from the date you pass.
No. Google lists it as retired, and the Associate exam replaces it.
No. Hiring depends on the employer and your skills.
Titles to search for include IT administrator, systems administrator and collaboration engineer. Search current vacancies on the EURES portal.
Read the current details on the Google Cloud Associate Google Workspace Administrator page.
This guide is independent and is not affiliated with the course provider. Prices, course lists and exam rules change, so check the official page before you enrol. A certificate does not give you the right to work in any country.
