Training guide
A guide to AWS Educate: what it offers at no cost, who can join and what it does not include.
EU Job Hub Editorial Team · Updated 1 October 2026 · Based on AWS Training and Certification blog posts and AWS pages
AWS Educate is a free online learning program for people who are new to the cloud. It offers self-paced courses, labs and digital badges. You sign up with an email address.
The old title said you need no credit card. AWS says the same, so that claim holds. This guide adds the limits, so you know what AWS Educate does and does not give you.
| Provider | Amazon Web Services |
| Cost | Free |
| Sign-up | Email address. AWS says no credit card or Amazon account is needed |
| Format | Self-paced courses, labs and learning pathways |
| Reward | Digital badges |
| Not included | AWS certification exams, which are paid |
AWS describes hundreds of hours of free, self-paced training, resources and labs. The content is written for people who are new to the cloud.
Courses are grouped by topic, such as cloud basics, security and machine learning.
AWS says the program is open to any individual, whatever their education or experience. Students and educators are a main audience.
A third-party summary says learners as young as 13 can use the free material. Check the age rules on the AWS page.
In the past, beginners had to give a credit card before they could try the AWS console. AWS now offers labs that work without one.
This lowers the risk of surprise bills while you learn.
Courses show their topic, length and level. Some include hands-on labs.
Topics include cloud computing basics, machine learning and AI, and Builder Labs for practice.
You earn a badge when you finish a course. You can share it on social media or add it to your CV.
A badge shows that you completed training. It is not an exam result.
AWS says learners can use the AWS Educate Job Board to search for jobs and internships. Badge earners are invited to the AWS Emerging Talent Community.
Treat these as extra tools. They do not guarantee a job.
It does not give an AWS certification. The exams, such as Cloud Practitioner, are separate and paid.
It focuses on AWS. Skills from other clouds are not covered.
Week one: pick a cloud basics course and finish it. Week two: do one lab. Week three: try a topic that interests you, such as machine learning. Week four: list your badges and decide your next step.
If you want a certificate, move on to Cloud Practitioner Essentials.
Register with your email address on the AWS Educate page. Complete your profile so that the platform can recommend courses.
Choose a pathway that fits your goal, such as cloud basics or machine learning.
Labs let you practise in the AWS console. AWS says no credit card is needed for them.
Follow each lab’s steps in order and finish the clean-up step. That habit helps you later when you use a real account.
AWS Educate is aimed at people who are new to the cloud. Skill Builder has a larger library, including exam preparation.
Many learners start in Educate and then move to Skill Builder for exam study.
Pathway: A group of courses that follows a topic.
Lab: A hands-on exercise in the AWS console.
Badge: A digital record that you finished a course.
Emerging Talent Community: A group that AWS invites badge earners to join.
Job Board: A place to search for jobs and internships.
Self-paced: Learning at your own speed with no live class.
Check the current price on the official page. Check that the exam code or course name matches the guide you study from.
Ask whether your employer or school will pay. Ask how long the result stays valid.
Write down your goal first. Choose a course or exam only if it moves you towards that goal.
Add your badges and the year to your Europass CV. List them as training.
Entry roles include IT support, junior cloud support and trainee positions.
Yes. AWS describes it as free.
No. AWS says none is needed.
It gives badges. AWS certifications need a paid exam.
AWS says any individual can join.
Job titles to search for include IT support, junior cloud support and trainee roles. Search current vacancies on the EURES portal.
Read the current details on the AWS Educate page.
This guide is independent and is not affiliated with Amazon Web Services. Prices, course lists and exam rules change, so check the official AWS page before you pay or enrol. A certificate does not give you the right to work in any country.
